Israel - Palestine

Lieu (D-CA-33) 10/24/2021: Twitter thread – “We have freedom from smallpox because many people got vaccinated. We have freedom from polio because many people got vaccinated. We can have freedom from COVID if many people get vaccinated. #Freedom #SundayMorning Thoughts Link to quoted tweet"It does not leave out anyone, it is the devil's playground," the man's fiancée said of the virus. https://t.co/ajoAnnI6iC   Link to reply@tedlieu Talk to Singapore 🇸🇬 about that. Israel too. @jcschmieder Both countries have eradicated polio and smallpox. Both countries are very pro COVID vaccines as well.

Weber (R-TX-14) 10/24/2021: Retweet of @IDF – “Flying toward a future of hope... 🇮🇱 🇩🇪 WATCH the historic moment when the German and Israeli Air Forces flew together over Jerusalem: Link to video

Risch (R-ID) 10/24/2021: Tweet – “On this #UNDay, we thank all American UN employees for their service to improve the @UN. Additionally, we continue to push for reforms to UN entities such as the @UNHRC, which remains a flawed body with a disproportionate focus on our ally #Israel.

Jewish, Anti-semitism

Manning (D-NC-6) 10/24/2021: Twitter thread – “I strongly condemn Sunrise DC’s boycott of the Freedom to Vote Relay – Rally. This action displays intolerance and anti-Semitism. I'm glad to see the national Sunrise movement has condemned this boycott and the hateful language used by the DC chapter. The Relay-Rally was created to advocate for legislation to protect voting rights & free and fair elections. Rather than alienating advocates, I encourage Sunrise DC to build bridges to protect voting rights and take action on climate change, which is their stated purpose. At a time when partisan divides are growing, progressive groups should be modeling the ability to build coalitions around issues on which they agree, rather than sowing divisions and inflaming hatred.

Syria

Pallone (D-NJ-6) 10/24/2021: Tweet – “Erdogan continues to prove that he can't be trusted as an ally. From his backing of Azeribijan's war crimes against Artsakh to his blatant support for terrorists in Syria, the expulsion of our ambassador should be a definitive wake up call for the U.S. and our partners. Lebanon

Taylor (R-TX-3) 10/23/2021: Retweet of @USMC – “Today, we remember the 220 Marines, 18 U.S. Navy Sailors and three U.S. Army Soldiers who died on this day in 1983 when terrorists attacked the Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, and recall those who worked tirelessly in the days following the attack. Iraq

Cruz (R-TX) 10/24/2021: Tweet – “Biden admin would make Baghdad Bob roll his eyes. “Skyrocketing inflation is great!” “Empty shelves at stores across America is a really good thing!!” OK then…. Link to quoted tweetCommerce Sec. @SecRaimondo: "What we have here is a demand issue. The economy is doing better. Since the president's been in office we've created five million jobs. People have money in their pocket. [...] Supply has to catch up." https://t.co/qmV89Ppi0F

Turkey

Meeks (D-NY-5) 10/23/2021: Tweet – “CM @RepGregoryMeeks: It is long past time that President Erdogan and his government live up to the democratic ideals of the @NATO alliance. Reversing this decision, and ensuring that Mr. Kavala’s human rights are respected, would be a helpful first step.   Link to www.bbc.com

Libya

Mace (R-SC-1) 10/24/2021: Twitter thread – “Congress has certain powers, and they are an important check on the other branches of government. Congress must have the ability to provide broad oversight, conduct investigations and make use of its subpoena power, just as we have throughout our nation’s history (1/6) Link to photo When Republicans were in control, we used this power to investigate Benghazi and even compelled Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to testify (the Benghazi committee was created in the same exact way as the Jan. 6th committee). We’ve used this power many times. (2/6) During Benghazi we issued subpoenas for materials and testimony, and we didn’t let a single person just walk away from our process. (3/6) This vote wasn’t about whether the Jan. 6th committee should exist or the merits of the subpoena itself. The question was simply: Does Congress have the ability to issue and enforce its subpoena power? I believe it does, and our courts do, too. (4/6) I’ve made some promises to the Lowcountry. And I promised to follow the Constitution. I also said I would not blindly follow partisan politics, but rather vote for what is right — not for what is politically expedient — and, most importantly, represent our district. (5/6) When we are in the majority next term, I’ll be there implementing our right to investigate, and issue and enforce subpoenas as a ranker on Oversight, because my vote just protected our right to do so. Pakistan

Risch (R-ID) 10/24/2021: Tweet – “On #WorldPolioDay, we recognize & support the remarkable efforts of #FrontlineHealth workers to eradicate #Polio. It’s imperative these heroes get unfettered access to #Afghanistan & #Pakistan so we can end this scourge. Global health security is possible.

Afghanistan

Blackburn (R-TN) 10/24/2021: Tweet – “In Sparta yesterday, I joined many Tennesseans in honoring Marine LCpl Kevin Honaker, who lost both of his legs while bravely serving our country in Afghanistan. This week, Homes For Our Troops is breaking ground on his new custom home. Link to photo

Portman (R-OH) 10/24/2021: Twitter thread – “For 20 years, many brave Afghans stood with us and our allies in battle. In the chaotic US withdrawal, many of these same Afghans were left behind & are now at grave risk. This week, I joined @SenatorRisch & @JimInhofe in sending a letter to IGs of @StateDept, @DOD_IG, @DHSgov & @USAID_OIG requesting an investigation into shortcomings & delays of the visa program for these courageous Afghans. Link to www.hsgac.senate.gov

Other - Middle East

Davidson (R-OH-8) 10/24/2021: Tweet – “Demand? Automatic, “NO”! Y’all need to circle back. #CitizenshipMatters. That’s why so many seek it here in America - the land of opportunity. It’s also why America adds roughly 1-million new American citizens LEGALLY every year. But, “demand”? Nope. Link to quoted tweetCommunities for Status and Protection, in which we are a member, recently sent a letter to @VP on behalf of the African, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Latinx, Arab, Middle Eastern, South Asian, & Asian/Pacific Islander immigrants we represent. @vp, our communities demand citizenship now. https://t.co/q25xwtdLil
